It’s that time of the year again where you’ve got six weeks to try and entertain your kids. You have no idea where to take them, and don’t want to spend too much money whilst trying to keep them happy. Well this guide is here for you! We’ve rounded up some of the best summer holiday clubs for 6 years and up, and they’re all based in the West Midlands. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB)
ECB provide young people with 6 sessions of exciting cricket lessons. In each session there will be a focus on a different skill within cricket to build their confidence and ability in the sport. The children will also take part in a 60-ball countdown cricket match.
You will need to check the website for dates and times, as they are based in a variety of locations across the Midlands. The classes are aimed at ages 8 – 11 though they do offer other classes for other age ranges.
JCA Academy Holiday Club
JCA Academy’s Holiday Club offers tons of super fun activities for your children to get involved in. Their activities range from:
- Cooking
- Science experiments
- Self confidence
- Healthy Mind
- Zorbing
- Sports
- Archery
- Arts & Crafts
There are 5 different locations to choose from, which are all Ofsted registered and take children aged 4 – 12 years. The price ranges from £16 – £30 per day.
Guitar Lessons with Dan Jones
Dan Jones offers beginners guitar lessons with him every week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays based in Telford. Mr Jones is an experiences guitarist, having played for over 30 years and has music available to purchase on iTunes. “He has been teaching for 14 years both privately and for the local authority music service and has a 100% pass rate in exams.”

Tech Tigers Holiday Club
Hyett Education provide STEM related holiday club activities to young people who are interested in learning and developing their skills in the following areas:
- Stop-Motion Animation
- Digital Music
- Film-Making & Green Screen
- Robotics & Coding
- 3D Design
- Engineering & Construction
- Minecraft Education
The club is aimed at children aged between 5 – 13, and they do accept childcare vouchers. The prices are as follows: School day (08.15-15.30) : £28 per child. Full Day (08.15-17.45) : £39 per child. With their Sibling Discount, your first child is full price but all additional siblings are only half price.
Play ‘n’ Learn Day Nursery
Play ‘n’ Learn Day Nursery has lots of indoor and outdoor activities for your children aged 5 – 10 to get involved in! Their activities all have learning goals attached to them, here are a few examples:
- Trips to the park
- Trips to the Black Country Museum
- Trips to Dudley Zoo
- Arts & crafts
- Science experiments

On the Water With Sea Cadets
Is your child interested in sailing and paddle-sports? If they are, you can enrol them on FREE water sessions for the ‘On the Water’ project with the West Midlands Sea Cadets. This project is only for children aged 9 – 14 who have never had the opportunity to try out these sports before.
