Can you believe February half term is nearly here? Time flies so fast! I’m sure you’re already wondering what to do with your family in half term so I’ve compiled a list of the best activities I can find for you in Birmingham! Musical Performances and Stage Shows
The Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) have got three different events to choose from over the next few weeks, 2 of which are taking place during half term. The first is the ‘Babies Adventures in Music’ which is an interactive performance for babies and their families to take part in. Performances are 30 minutes long and include the harp, diatonic accordion, a range of stringed instruments and songs in different languages. Each month’s session will introduce new music to the children giving them the chance to listen to different instruments as well as bond with the other babies and have a little dance.

From one musical performance at MAC to another, ‘Little Murmur’ is a mix of dance, technology and illustration show, telling the story of a child’s struggle with letters and words. It’s described as “an honest and funny tale about the trials and tribulations of seeing things differently.”

The last performance at the MAC, is a play written by the award-winning writer Asif Khan, called ‘Jabala & The Jinn’. The story is about a young girl called Jabala who has to make some difficult decisions in time for the Eid celebration. A quote from the writer is “I want to share my culture and experiences. We don’t see much theatre about British Muslims, particularly for this age group (5-12 years). I know growing up I didn’t have that and we underestimate how important that is to children”.

Following on the musical theme, the Infinite Arts team are starting a holiday workshop for children and young people to develop their singing, acting and dancing skills for a performance of Alice in Wonderland. At the end of the week, they even get to perform on stage for their family and friends.

Freedom Fostering’s Plans for Half Term
On Tuesday 22nd February we will be having an arts & crafts session in the office from 1pm – 4pm. This is for children aged between 0-12, and they children will need to be transported to and from the office by the carers. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Children’s Panel – As you may have heard, Children’s Panel will be coming back on Wednesday 23rd February, between 11 AM – 2 PM. This is specifically for children who are already members of the panel.
