Healthy Eating on a budget 11+ workshop activity

Freedom Fostering ran a eating healthy on a budget workshop for children aged 11+

The children were provided with £10.00 and tasked to go to a local supermarket, with staff supervision, to purchase healthy ingredients which they could then prepare and turn into a meal at the office.

Supporting the activity, the children were further tasked with creating budget plans for different meals, participated in varied quizzes surrounding foods, meals and costings/budgeting and at the end all were provided with some useful resources and worksheets to take away and refer back too as and when needed around the topic of eating healthy on a budget.

What better way to learn then actually getting the young people to shop, prepare, cook and manage their own money and meals!

After all, if you fish for an individual they will eat for a day whereas if you teach an individual to fish they will eat for a lifetime.
