Hednesford Summer Festival and Transport Show

The annual summer festival is back this year with plenty of fun for all the family! Activities include:

Blue Light and Boots Funday

Blue Light and Boots are bringing you tons of fun and games and activities all for FREE! Look out for:

  • A climbing wall
  • Cooking with an Army chef
  • Face painting
  • Displays
  • Market stalls

Kingswood Trust

Dragon and Unicorn Hunt

Dress up in your best fancy dress costume and follow the clues to fund the treasure! Create a fantasy creature utilising your craft skills. (materials provided) Hot and cold food, drinks and ice creams will be available to purchase. Vegetarian and vegan options also available.

Summer Holiday Club

Join Kingswood Trust’s Holiday Club to learn how to become a woodland explorer! With multiple dates to choose from and loads of activities to try out, you’ll have plenty of fun! Activities range from:

  • Make a camp
  • Build dens
  • Feed sheep
  • Collect eggs from ducks and chickens
  • Archery
  • Orienteering

Art Skills Workshops

  • Wednesday 27th July: Create a pair of woven wings, perfect for the festival season. Use hessian to weave cloth strips into a beautiful pair of wings you can wear home.
  • Wednesday 3rd and 17th August: Books and Craft with Diverse Education by Maame Prempeh, creating a mini representation of yourself in pompom form and exploring creativity through reading.
  • Wednesday 10th August: Create a pin thread drawing music-inspired picture with artist Kathleen Fabre
  • Wednesday 24th August: Design and print your own band t-shirt with artist Rob Conway.

Time: 1-3pm every day. Location: Wolverhampton Art Gallery, Wolverhampton, WV1 1DU. Price: £5 per child, must be accompanied by an adult. Age: Suitable for ages 8-14.

Family Arts Drop in Sessions

  • Monday 25th July: Build and decorate a shoe box guitar.
  • Monday 1st August: Create a shadow puppet music show.
  • Monday 8th August: Make a pipe cleaner pop star.
  • Monday 15th August: Sew your own band patches to add to your bag or jacket.
  • Monday 22nd August: Design and make some glam rock glasses.

Put on your dancing shoes and get ready for this arty party! Join in with the silent disco taking over the Georgian Gallery. Make your own festival pompom crown. Take part in some festival-themed crafts. Explore the Black Country Beats exhibition and choose your own song on the jukebox.

Date and time: 20th August, 11am – 3pm. Location: Wolverhampton Art Gallery, Wolverhampton, WV1 1DU. Price: £5 per child, must be accompanied by an adult. Age: Suitable for ages 5+.

Party with Cocomelon and Babyshark

Come to Bilston to party with Cocomelon and Babyshark and see their live magic show! Their 2 hour performance will include:

  • Magic
  • Prizes
  • Bubbles
  • Sweets
  • Disco
  • Meet Baby JJ and Babyshark

Date and time: 6th August, 6-8pm. Location: Bilston Sports & Social Club Ltd, 71 Wellington Road, Bilston, WV14 6BA. Price: £7 per person, under 1’s go FREE. You can pay for an additional meet and greet ticket for £5.

Animal Summer Holiday Club

Join Severn Valley Rescue Farm to meet the animals and create animal-themed crafts! You’ll get to meet all of their furry friends including guinea pigs, bunnies, mice, chinchillas and goats. As well as animal crafts, you can decorate some cakes and biscuits too. Each week of the club will follow a different theme, as listed below.

  • Week 1 and 4 (25th-26th July, 15th-16th August)- Mythical Creatures Unicorns, Mermaids, Gnomes and Fairies. Come in fancy dress or just make something wonderful whilst you’re there. Why not help transform their beautiful ponies into magical unicorns?
  • Week 2 and 5 – (1st-2nd August, 22nd-23rd August) Disney, Marvel, Lego and Animal Art – Build the tallest tower, or a castle for a hamster, or come dressed to impress as Spiderman or Queen Elsa. (Just remember to bring Wellies too!) Learn to draw some fun animals too.
  • Week 3 and 6 – (8th-9th August, 30th August) Science Week – look for bugs under a microscope, make slime and learn other gross things about animals. Come dressed up as a crazy scientist or a jungle explorer.

Clubs will be running on a Monday and Tuesday throughout the summer holidays (excluding bank holidays). Children will need to bring suitable clothing, a packed lunch and a refillable water bottle. Healthy snacks and water/squash will be provided.

Time: 10am – 2pm every day. Location: Severn Valley Rescue Farm, Billingsley, WV16 6PH. Price: £25.

Introduction to Mountain Biking

This half day family taster is designed for riders new to mountain biking. The coaching is appropriate for riders new to off-road riding and designed to build confidence in a social and relaxed setting building at your pace.

The sessions include coaching on:

  1. Braking
  2. The ‘ready’ position
  3. Gear selection
  4. Cornering
  5. Climbing & descending
  6. Developing balance for slow riding/stationary balance
  7. Line Selection

You will need to provide a working bike suitable for off-road riding, plus a helmet and gloves. The coaching is conducted on carefully designed maintained cross-country mountain biking trails. No previous off-road experience is required and participants should be able to spend a few hours in the saddle.

Date and time: 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd August, 1 – 3:30pm. Location: Comer Woods, Heath Meadow, Bridgnorth, WV15. Price: £15 per person.

Party with PJ Masks

What do you think about joining a 1 hour magic show featuring lots of games, prizes, bubbles and more! Featuring a special appearance from PJ Masks. The entire show is 2 hours long, giving you enough time to take part in all of the games before meeting PJ Masks.

Date and time: 27th August, 2-4pm. Location: Aldridge Social Club, High Street, Walsall, WS9 8LZ. Price: General admission is £5, VIP is £7. (VIP includes a meet and greet)
