What’s on in the West Midlands | January 2022

As we’re now in 2022, we’ve compiled some activities and events across Birmingham, Walsall and Warwickshire for you and your family to check out throughout January. If you do go on any of these activities, please let us know as we’d love to hear what you’ve been up to.

As we enter the Year of the Tiger, the University of Birmingham China Institute is delighted to invite you to their 2022 Lunar New Year concert, in the Bramall Music Building, University of Birmingham. The event will feature performances by outstanding artists Didi Xiao, Eimear McGeown and Euphoria China.

For the first time in Warwickshire, Royal Leamington Spa, you and your family can find the opportunity to discover Japan through authentic Japanese culture, craft, art, food & drink. Also find different local stalls that offer you the best of Japan. There will be amazing handmade food stalls, great workshops for kids/adults, performance and more.

Join the Woodland Play Home Educators for a 6-week programme of forest school themed play activities. Children and families will get to explore, learn and play in the lush Orchard space in Highbury Park. The 6-week programme will include activities considering how we can all help biodiversity and care for the planet. They will explore yoga, mindfulness, crafts and forest school practices during the sessions. There will be sensory items for babies.

Keneish Dance presents fun family workshops including storytelling, dance, movement, arts and crafts. Sessions are educational, fun and expressive, learning about agricultural peoples of Xaymaca (Indigenous Jamaica) – inspiring self, community and environmental care.

The people at St. Matthew’s Church are offering a fun and friendly family breakfast club every Saturday morning. The breakfast club includes food, bible stories, family challenges and crafts, whilst having meaningful discoveries and conversations about Jesus.

What’s on at Cineworld

West Side Story: “West Side Story tells the classic tale of fierce rivalries and young love in 1957 New York City. An adaptation of the 1957 musical, West Side Story explores forbidden love and the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds.”
