What family events and activities are taking place in Birmingham during June 2022? Featuring celebrations for the Queen’s Jubilee.
The fun-filled festival is packed with Bouncy Castles, Obstacle Course, Inflatable Slide, Bungee Run, Human Wrecking Ball, Inflata-Bull, Nerf Wars, Driving School, Circus Skills, Sumo Suits, Giant Games, Space Hopper Races, Crafty Corner and so much more! Funtopia is designed for children up to the age of 10, though grown ups can get involved too!

Castle Bromwich Activities
Visit Castle Bromwich Historic Gardens for a family nature session to learn more about the beautiful butterflies. There will be crafts and games for you to get involved in too. The session will take place outside so you will need to dress accordingly for the weather.

Castle Bromwich is also holding a wild games session during half term. Your children can burn off some energy as they take part in high energy nature based games and challenges.

Castle Bromwich will be letting you roam their gardens this summer as they offer day tickets to their 10 acre 400 year old gardens. Their gardens offer a space to breathe deeply, escape and relax. The Open Air Courtyard Cafe is open for light refreshments; including Rourke’s prize winning pies, Homemade cakes, Cream Teas in a Box, pastries, hot and cold drinks and ice creams.
There is usually a self-guided walk or activity for your children to do, or a mud kitchen to mess around in. You are welcome to bring a picnic if you prefer, and dogs are allowed to come along too.

Highclare School in Sutton Coldfield is throwing a summer fair in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this year. They are welcoming all students, past and present plus grandparents, siblings, friends and other family members to the school for the special day. There will be lots of fun activities for the children to do such as a magic show, face painters, tombola’s, plus a few surprises! You will be able to purchase food and drink from the stalls available.

To celebrate Armed Forces Day this year, there will be a parade on Weoley Castle Square led by veteran associations, reservists, cadets,
Regimental Standard Bearers and Association Standard Bearers. The Lord Mayor and local councillors will be attending, and the Rev Fiona Harrison Smith will perform the Act of Remembrance, followed by the last post, a 2 minute silence and Reveille.
There will be lots of entertainment throughout the day including:

- Association stands and more.
The infamous dance group Diversity will be performing live on stage at The Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham this June. The group had promised their fans that they will continue their legacy, through to the next decade. The leader of the group; Ashley, has created a new show, called Connected, which centres around the world of social media, the internet, and the digital era we now live in, but more importantly how this connects us all.

Blakesley Hall is inviting you and your children to come over and put together some colourful crowns to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee! The crowns will be unique and adorned with all sorts of colours, pom poms glitter and more.

Join Aston Hall for an interactive telling of the story Beauty and the Beast. As you embark on the tour, you will smell the spices traded by Beauty’s merchant father, help search for the Prince in Beauty’s dreams, and find out why roses are so important to Beauty and the Beast. Before you go, have a peek in Beauty’s enchanted mirror – a perfect opportunity for you to take a photograph of your little ones to remember your visit!
Before the tour begins, there will be a craft activity to get you in the spirit of the occasion. You are also welcome to get dressed up in your best princess or beast costume!

Weoley Castle are holding a ‘BioBlitz’ event where you get to explore the castle ruins, recording any plants, insects and animals you may find. Each child will receive a bug collector to take home with them which will help them study their finds, as well as a spotter’s guide and worksheet.
What is a BioBlitz?
A BioBlitz focuses on a specific area, finding and identifying as many species as possible in a short period of time giving a snapshot of the area’s biodiversity. The data people collect can also be shared with regional wildlife data collecting programmes and apps which all help us better understand the world around us and our contribution to it.
